Preparations for 2017 festival

We are now preparing for the 2017 festival which is going to have a similar format to the previous years but with a change to the Friday. Friday is going to be an evening of recorded music followed by Hazell Dean performing at the end of the evening.

Saturday will be a full day of bands showcasing some of Devon and the South West’s finest artists. We are still looking for artists to perform, please get in contact via Facebook or email us.

Camping will be available to those who wish to camp or stay in a camper-van, tickets will be on sale in the near future once we have all of the acts in place.

The Festival is now being hosted and managed by DFW Events Ltd rather than Devon Freewheelers as a charity. DFW Events Ltd is a not for profit company which will underwrite the event and pass to Devon Freewheelers the profits after all expenses are paid.

Muay Thai World Record attempt

FSC Exeter Honiton Muay Thai set for world record attempt at the inaugural Honiton Sausage and Cider Festival.

Muay Thai martial artists are aiming to kick their way into the record books at next month’s inaugural Honiton Sausage and Cider Festival.

Members of FSC Exeter Honiton Muay Thai will be attempting to set the Guinness World Record for the most Muay Thai clinch knee kicks in an hour during the event on Saturday, May 3.

The record attempt, involving club members of all ages, will take place between 11am and noon on the main festival field.

Coach and club owner Sonny Perez will also be looking to set his own record for the most clinch knee kicks completed in an hour by one person.

“We are aiming to do as many as we can in an hour,” says Gill Day, who was speaking on behalf of the club. “We are really excited and we are all spurred up for it.”

Club members are already busy preparing for their record attempt – practising the move at the beginning of each class.

“It will be good for the town and will put Honiton on the map,” added Gill. “It will also be good for the club itself. It should be quite an event.”
